Safari
Safari is the web browser supplied as part of OS X. If you've found this site, you will know how to use Safari but here are some tips you may find useful:
- Block Popup Windows. To stop most of those annoying adverts that appear when you're browsing, go to the Safari menu (the word Safari in bold in the menu bar across the top of the screen) and click on Block Popup Windows.
- Tabbed Browsing. If you have sites on which you wish to compare data, or even two pages from the same site, you can open each page in a new tab which is like a new widow. Go to the Safari File menu and click New Tab then enter the address you wish to go to.
- Opening Page. In Safari's preferences you can choose which page is shown when Safari is opened. This can be blank if you wish or any page on the internet. If you use Google a lot, you may like to set Google as the "home" page.
