In this tutorial you will learn how to set up the application Mail to enable you to send and receive email. Please note that whilst it is possible to use Mail to send and receive from a web based account such as Hotmail, it is beyond the scope of this tutorial.
What's Needed
- A connection to the internet (see 'Getting On Line' if necessary)
- An email address, user name and password - given to you by your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
- The email account type (usually POP), the name of the incoming mail server and outgoing mailserver (again, given to you by your ISP)
Mail has the icon which looks like a postage stamp. It is probably already in your dock at the bottom of your screen, if so, double click it. If it's not already in the dock it can be found in the Applications folder - double click it there.
